Yong Junyi (Violin/Viola)

Junyi is a graduate of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, having studied viola under the tutelage of T’ang Quartet violist Lionel Tan.

An active performer, Junyi has played viola with many prominent orchestras in Singapore such as Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, re:sound collective,Singapore Lyric Opera, ADDO Chamber Orchestra and Base Philharmonic Orchestra. As a violinist, Junyi has played with the Orchestra of the Music Makers, playing seminal works such as Mahler’s 2nd Symphony and Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring.

A tutor of both violin and viola, Junyi believes in music as a means of imparting life lessons as problem-solving skills, different modes of thinking and perseverance. He places emphasis on establishing a strong foundation in playing the violin and in music theory. But above all, he believes that music should be fun and enjoyable for all.
